Yeah, But…
If you’re a Facebook fan, I’m sure you’ve said to yourself, “Yeah, but Facebook delivers your ad to millions more people right into their device!” And that certainly was true many years ago, and still is to some degree. But now the complexity of the Facebook “ad manager” requires a short course just to learn how to operate efficiently. You may say to yourself, “Well, a younger person will have no trouble working it out.” If that’s the case, then why are people getting out of Facebook advertising and getting into other digital formats and/or into traditional media, like radio and TV?
Facebook was profitable, but it just isn’t as much anymore. I have a close personal friend that spends hundreds of thousands of dollars monthly on Facebook advertising and is complaining about declining return on investment (ROI). Unless you take pleasure in worrying, maybe you should read on.
We talk to people daily and we get calls from people saying that they no longer want to invest in Facebook because it’s a lot of work for a little return. So let’s run that down.
What does it take to become a Facebook advertiser?
You need to have a business Facebook account and you will need to take out a small loan to study the advertising manager so that you can deliver your ads to the right people. Simple, right? And by the way, don’t use your personal account and sign up for the business advertising manager because you can get your account canceled… Not that it happened to me… (um, yeah).
You go through the work of setting up your ads, how they’re going to be delivered, defining your target audiences and determining which pay method you want Facebook to charge you with. Then you sit back and try to measure your results based on activity or sales. But if you have a normal product or service, you will have to wait a long time for any real results on Facebook. Though, to be fair, if you have an entertainment or leisure item, Facebook still seems to be pretty good.
So after you’re done setting up your account, and putting out your ads, and picking your audience, and determining what Facebook will charge you by what type of advertising approach you’re taking within the Facebook ad manager, you can set your launch date and kick back and spend more time adjusting your ad trying to find out what works.
Now let’s talk about what it takes to prep for a radio ad.
If you don’t know anything about it, you could consult with folks like us here at Golden Radio Ads, or use our website to figure out how you are going to make your radio advertising spot, and then you would get it recorded on your own or with us or with someone else. Normally you invest about 5 to 6 hours of time thinking about the script and if you are going to record it yourself, and maybe add another five or six hours to the entire process. That’s it. Now you give your ad to the media company and place it with the radio stations and you make money within 24 hours. No other advertising channel can produce results as fast as radio. You can do things like pixel tracking on web pages, telephone numbers, special coupon codes or email inboxes.
So let’s sum up all of this. It takes roughly 5 to 6 hours tops to think of and write the script, record the ad, and submit it back to you for approval. Or you can choose an ongoing career learning new points of software within the Facebook system on their ever-changing algorithms on how they deliver your ads.
You’re in business to make money! If your business is advertising, I see the sense of investing a lot of time in learning how to place advertising on Facebook but if your business happens to be something else… it is probably to your advantage to let someone else do that for you. So if you really want to save time and money give us a call at Golden Radio Ads and we will help you shorten the 6 hours down to a couple. And then let’s go make some money! Any thoughts or questions? Please feel free to email or call us!
If you need a little back up to what I’m talking about, go to eMarketer.com and look for Tinuiticom’s fourth-quarter 2022 report! In it they make the point that other social media is rising higher than Facebook in advertising because of Facebook’s last 5 poor quarterly returns in a row! If you have to believe something, believe the numbers and their results! If they’re not making money then it’s not working for their advertisers either, makes sense? Hope so.
